The first Luxembourg-Chengdu international direct rail link was inaugurated this Thursday, April 4th. The train left in the afternoon and is expected to connect the Chinese city today (April 19th).

The inauguration took place at the Bettembourg-Dudelange intermodal terminal, in the presence of Félix Braz, representing Luxembourg Minister of Defense , Mobility and Public Works and Homeland Security, François Bausch, and Yin Li, Governor of Sichuan Province. It will travel accross Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, will enter the Chinese territory at Alashankou and will finally arrive at the Chengdu Qingbaijiang International Railway Port within 15 days.

“Today, the train will travel nearly 10,000 kilometers across Europe and Asia, carrying goods that represent the friendship between Luxembourg and Chinese people” Yin Li said. The train is operated by CDIRS, in collaboration with RTSB and CFL Multimodal. The aim is to propose one rotation per week from mid-2019 and a door-to-door logistics offer to train customers.

This time, the train is loaded with food, medical equipment, electronics, hardware, ceramics, consumer goods, etc.
