The Government of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg sent urgent aid to fight Covid-19 to China. 5 tons of sanitary protection material were flown to Beijing in February. Among other medical supplies, this amount of Tyvek allowed to produce around 30 000 hazmat suits, vital protection gear for medical staff fighting the virus. Tyvek is produced by Dupont, at their plant in Contern, Luxembourg. The material was flown to China by Luxembourg all-cargo airline Cargolux.

The private sector joined the assistance efforts in Wuhan as multiple Luxembourg companies sent medical supplies to Hubei Province. While the current pandemic presents major challenges to both countries, it also demonstrates reciprocal assistance and mutual support between Luxembourg and China, may it be through the donation of much-needed personal protective equipment or through regular exchanges of experience at various levels.
